Elephant Farm in Chiang Mai!!

We have done so much today!! One hour red cap ride to the elephant farm, and then we went to the Elderly Center.  Everyone who goes to the park, will need a sticker! :)

We went to an Elephant Farm, seeing these giant elephants and all the talents that they have, it is amazing! The elephants in different ages painted these 4 paintings! It is amazing!

We also went on an elephant ride.  Seeing how they ask the elephant was treated, I feel bad for them.  Who would want the be push around on their ears to let them know what to do... But it was a crazy fun ride.

The "driver" was like "maahn maahn lai", in Chinese it means "slowly".  And I agreed and repeated after him.  All the sudden, the elephant ran! It was really scary! Later we realized "maahn maahn lai" in Thai means "faster".  That is the reason why the elephant would ran.

After which, we got into the ox ride. Seeing the people would wipe them, it breaks my heart! But that's how they get the ox going and moving.

And then, we went on a bamboo river raft! This is our team!!! It was fun, we can see elephant poops flowing around. And the raft people said we all should pay him tips. Dr. Page was very nice to give them 100 baht.  He is so nice!! :)

We were also able to go to the village to see the Long Neck Tribe.  They make their own clothes. each scarf takes about 3 days to finish it and a top that they are wearing will take about a week to finish.  They are amazing!!! They know how to sing and play different instruments! They are very talented.  Their husbands are rafting or riding elephants, kids are in school, and the mothers are here.

The long neck tribe can have as many rings as 24 on their neck. They sleep with their rings and everything.  They have rings on their necks as well as underneath on their knees. I bet it hurts!

After the park, we were able to go visit an Elderly center called "Wai Thong Nid Wed", we sang and visited them! It was a great experience we had! This Elderly Center is all free of charge for the elderly. Some of the are really old and some of them are healthy.  Before these elderly people can come here to live, they staff will go visit their house and see their status, if they are poor , they can come and stay.  Another condition is when they do not have children.  I hope when I get old, I can have someone to take care of me.
