A Special Day!

Today, all the students can do whatever we want! It was really fun.  Most of them went to do zipline, I wanted to do some shopping.  Therefore, Cody and I decided to to go celedon and silverware.  The driver does not speak any English, fortunately, we had Joe, he was able to get us some good price for us, on top of it, Joe told the driver where to go.  The driver took us to the umbrella shop as well because it was on the same road.

The umbrella shop:
They had their own factories, the workers all have a specific job on different parts of the umbrella, including fabric dying, shape the wood by cutting it, sewing the woods together, and put the fabric on top.  It was amazing to see how good they are.

Then we went to one celadon place.  It was not Cody wanted to go.  Cody wanted to go to the Baan Celadon.  We asked the lady in the current celadon to tell the driver, and the driver said he knows where it is and took us there!

As soon as we arrived and left the red cap, Cody told me this is not the place either.  And also, we saw Dr. Page and Jiraporn were in the car parking! When I saw them, I was really happy and glad, I felt I have a someone to save me!! Maybe because I know Jiraporn speaks English and Thai, I would feel more comfortable, maybe because I did not know anyone.  It just felt really welcome and warm!

In this Celadon, we had a tour on how people would make plates or put colors on top. It was amazing!! All the clays that they get are from Chiang Mai, everything that they sell are all handmade.

We were also able to visit the landlord's house. Her house is beautiful!

In this celadon, they have a special menu. Jiraporn was so nice to order this for us! I forgot what it was called, but It is sticky rice wrapped in a banana leaf, inside the sticky rice it has banana, red beans and Chiang Mai sesame seeds, they steamed it for 2 hours.  The treat was so good!! It was enjoyed with a cup of ice-cold lemon grass tea.  It was fresh and refreshing with a little sweetness afterwards. It was like heaven!

Then Jiraporn took us to the market to get some worms and snacks, and of course, durian!  It was good!

Dr. Page loved the worms, he just ate them like french fries! He had one after another one. He shared with the group as well; some members liked it and some don't.

In our hotel, there was a big sign saying if we bring durian back to the hostel, we will receive a huge fine! Dr. Page was very worried about it.  We bought the durian in the late afternoon.  He put it in his room, and later that evening, he told us that he can smell it in his room. He then took it to the balcony of my room.  After I shower, I and got to the room, I can smell the durian.  :) Dr. Page was very worried!! However, all of us enjoyed it!! Although it was not the best durian we have had.  It was good tho!

Jiraporn told us the best place to eat durian was in the temples! :) It was raining, so we didn't go..
