Chom-reab-suor!

Our first and second day of Cambodia is an adventure! First, Kayla, Josh, and I was going to land in Cambodia later in the afternoon.  Without any notice, our flight was cancelled and moved it in the early morning with the other group members. The immigration was crazy as well, all of us were very lost and did not know which form to write and give, especially we did not know the language. I heard rumors of  the corrupted government that we need to pay tips for the officers and everything there has no change. However, we finally got our visa as a visitor for 30 days! It was a relief!

After we land in Cambodia, Dillon, Marlyse, and Cody were there waiting for us.  We took a Tuk Tuk to go get our bikes and helmets, then we went to our host family.
People are CRAZY drivers on the road!! They would drive the wrong way of the road and run the red light at all times! In my opinion, there is no low, just don't get hit!

We have made many trips on our first day, biking everywhere in Phnom Penh, getting familiar with our city, and especially how to get to our internship. On the way back, Amber was riding in front of me, and Marlise was behind me.  I saw Amber dodging something, I immediately looked on the ground and I saw a one foot long fresh dead RAT!!! There were about 3 to 4 seconds that I can dodge it, I turned my wheel back and forth, struggling to avoid the rat, immediately, I screamed and ran over it, my bike had a little bump, for both my front wheel and the back wheel.  Marlise on the other hand, she saw my struggles and ran into the rat, she could not remember that she needs to avoid it, so she ran over it as well! Both of us could not stop laughing for the entire two minutes!!

Our first meal was delicious!! I would say Cambodian food is about 80% Chinese influence in it.  They always have rice.  This is what we had. Fried chicken, vegges, onions with friend eggs.  The meal was simple, but it was very good! The chicken was marinated for a long time that every bite of the chicken has its flavor. The vegetable was soft and flavorful as well! Just like what it tastes like at home.  I want to learn their cooking skills and style from them, but they said we do not have time!
